Dr. Tyler Browning ('01)

The Highlands High School Alumni Association is proud to announce Dr. Tyler Browning (’01) as the recipient of the 2026 Alumnus of the Year Award.

Tyler Browning is a lifelong resident of Fort Thomas, having attended Johnson Elementary School and graduating from Highlands High School as a member of the Class of 2001. During high school, he was a standout student-athlete, earning Valedictorian honors while competing on the Highlands Football State Championship teams in 1998, 1999, and 2000. He also played varsity tennis and was actively involved in numerous extracurricular clubs.
 

Tyler went on to attend the University of Kentucky, where he earned degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. He continued at the University of Kentucky for medical school before returning to Northern Kentucky to complete his Family Medicine and Sports Medicine residencies at St. Elizabeth Healthcare.Driven by a desire to practice close to home, Tyler partnered with St. Elizabeth Healthcare on the development of a new medical facility on Grand Avenue. In this role, he helped shape the vision for the practice and recruited exceptional colleagues, including Sherri Schwartz (’00) and later Laura Barczewski, to establish the St. Elizabeth Fort Thomas/Newport Primary Care office. He officially began his family medicine practice in Fort Thomas in 2013 and has been proud to care for members of his hometown community ever since.

In addition to his clinical practice, Tyler has served as a team physician for Scott High School, Newport High School, and Thomas More University. For the past several years, he has been the Team Physician for Highlands High School, where he oversees the athletic training program, supports all athletic teams, and is present for all home and away football games to respond to student-athlete needs. He also serves as the Medical Director for the Rose Garden Mission medical clinic in Covington, providing essential healthcare services to underserved members of the community.

Outside of his professional life, Tyler is grateful to share life with his wife, Mica, his high school sweetheart, and their four children, who currently attend Johnson Elementary, Highlands Middle School, and Highlands High School. His family’s deep ties to Fort Thomas have provided him with the opportunity to coach various youth sports teams and serve on the Fort Thomas Junior Football League board.

Tyler will be honored during Homecoming on September 25th. Please join us in congratulating Tyler on this well-earned recognition.
