Megan (Hosea) Abner (’91) and Mick Abner (’88) can’t quite remember when they first met—probably because Mick was often around the Hosea house as her brother’s friend. Their own friendship began the way many did in the 1980s: hanging out by the Highlands High School flagpole. On summer nights, dozens of Fort Thomas teens gathered “up town,” meeting at the flagpole and walking laps back and forth between Highlands and Convenient. Somewhere along those familiar laps, Megan and Mick’s story truly began. They started dating in 1989 and were married on October 11, 1997. Together, they raised three children in their Ft Thomas home—Maleah ’18, Kenna ’21, and Mikey ’26—each proudly wearing Highlands blue too. Today, Mick continues to work for Hosea Project Movers, and Megan is a local Realtor, and you can still find them around Highlands often. Mick is on the football field coaching, while Megan has served on the Fort Thomas Education Foundation board since 2012 and is the current Alumni Association Committee Chair, and leads campus tours to our alumni groups. We are grateful for the joy, commitment, and community spirit they continue to bring to Fort Thomas, and we wish Mick and Megan endless blessings and happiness in the years ahead.
